Localization is the process of adapting a product to a specific foreign language or foreign culture, with the aim of making the product appear “natural“ in the region in question. This includes translation but also more extensive consideration of language, culture, society, law, as well as technical and other aspects.

The special form of software localization is, in the narrower sense, the translation of all elements of a graphical user interface. However, a special technical dimension comes to bear here. Different running lengths of languages, units, currencies and date formats are just a few examples.

Faulty or insufficiently localized software can lead to extremely high follow-up costs, which can be avoided with foresighted planning. This makes it all the more important to bring a localization professional on board for software localization.
